Fine Arts

Vauxhall Elementary School offers many opportunities for students to explore the Fine Arts:

  • Christmas Concert
  • Missoula Children's Theatre
  • Grade 5/6 Spring Musical
  • VES/VHS Fine Arts Night

Christmas Concert:

Our annual Christmas concert is always scheduled on the last Thursday before Christmas break. We have two shows at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The afternoon show is our first complete run-through and allows students to see the concert. Excellent seats for viewing are always available during the afternoon concert.  Our gym is always packed for the evening performance as this is a special event in our community.

Missoula Children's Theatre:

Every year, Missoula Children's Theatre comes to our school. This program provides the opportunity for students to experience drama at a very high level.  Students audition for acting and singing parts.  Every classroom also gets to take part in drama activities.  In only four days, they put on a incredible musical show.  The shows are always a big hit with staff, students and parents.  Thank you to our School Council and Parent Advisory Committee for helping to fund this special event every year.

Grade 5/6 Musical:

Every spring, the Grade 5/6 class performs a musical under the direction of Mrs. Skretting. All grade 5 and 6 students are involved in singing during the production.  Students can also audition for parts in the play as well as for solo performances.  The play is always full of humour, comedic acting and fabulous singing.   There are always two performances at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  The productions are always received with rousing applause from the audience.

VES/VHS Fine Arts Night:

In the spring, VES and VHS host a Fine Arts Night.  This is a semi-formal evening to celebrate the visual and performing arts in our community.  There are performances by both VES and VHS students.  Hors d'oeuvres and beverages are served.  The Fine Arts Night is open to anyone ages 5 and up.  This is a fun evening where we support the fine arts in our community!
